Armstrong World Industries Releases Fourth Annual Sustainability Report

LANCASTER, PA — Armstrong World Industries (NYSE: AWI) has unveiled its fourth annual sustainability report, titled “Building Better Together.” The report details the company’s 2023 progress towards its 2030 targets, focusing on three key pillars: Healthy and Circular Products, Healthy Planet, and Thriving People and Communities.

Highlights from the report include significant strides in environmental and community initiatives. Sixty-one percent of total product sales and 80% of Mineral Fiber product sales in 2023 were free of chemicals of concern. The company achieved a 12% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from its 2019 baseline. Renewable electricity sourcing increased to 17% of total usage, up from zero in 2019. Additionally, Armstrong supported 75 community organizations through employee choice giving and foundation matching programs. The company also reported a 21% reduction in its total recordable injury rate compared to the previous year, marking continued progress towards its zero-injury safety goal.

The report also showcases Armstrong’s “Building Better Together” initiative, launched in 2023. The initiative encourages collaboration and innovation to address sustainability and health challenges in the built environment. It introduces energy-saving products like the Ultima® Templok® ceiling panels, which are designed to save energy and reduce carbon emissions in commercial buildings.

Armstrong’s sustainability report has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Standards, Core option. It aligns with frameworks such as the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, Construction Materials standards, and the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures.
