LANCASTER, PA — The season of giving took an unexpected turn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, as a man seated in a wheelchair allegedly turned a shopping spree into a shoplifting spree. The scene of the incident was the Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Outlet at the Tanger Outlet complex on Lincoln Hwy East.
On December 21, 2023, at approximately 3:30 pm, a man entered the store, seated in a wheelchair. He used his feet to navigate around the store, selecting various clothing items and placing them on his lap. His actions up to this point were unremarkable – just another customer browsing through the aisles.
However, what happened next veered sharply from the ordinary. According to the allegations, the man stood up from his wheelchair, placed the selected merchandise on the seat of the chair, and walked out of the store pushing the wheelchair before him. The total value of the allegedly stolen merchandise exceeded $830.
This audacious act was captured by the store’s surveillance cameras. The East Lampeter Township Police Department has released an image, asking anyone familiar with the suspect or having any information regarding this alleged crime to make contact at 717-291-4676 or online here.
