LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster Stormers have confirmed the return of right-handed pitcher A.J. Alexy for the 2025 season. The announcement, made by manager Ross Peeples, secures the Pennsylvania native as the seventh player, and fifth pitcher, signed for the upcoming campaign.
Alexy, originally from Elverson, PA, joined the Stormers late in the 2024 season and quickly made an impact. He posted a 2-1 record with an impressive 2.57 ERA over 14 regular season appearances. The Twin Valley High School graduate struck out 21 batters in just 14 innings while allowing only eight hits. His contributions carried into the postseason, where he appeared in two of Lancaster’s four playoff games.
Manager Ross Peeples expressed confidence in Alexy’s value to the team, noting his versatility and leadership. “A.J. is a guy we can depend on in our bullpen,” said Peeples. “He was good for us in a variety of roles. He is a great human being and a very important part of our locker room.”
Alexy’s career began in 2016 when he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers before being traded to the Texas Rangers in 2017. During his time in the Rangers’ system, he rose quickly, making his MLB debut on August 30, 2021. Alexy’s debut was remarkable, as he pitched five scoreless innings against the Colorado Rockies, leading the Rangers to a 4-3 victory. He followed this performance with six shutout innings and another win over the LA Angels just a week later.
After spending time with Class AA Wichita in the Minnesota Twins organization and the Kansas City Monarchs of the American Association, Alexy joined Lancaster in August 2024. His return solidifies a strong bullpen option as the Stormers prepare to begin the 2025 season on April 25 at Long Island.
The Stormers’ home opener will take place on Friday, May 2, at 6:45 PM at Penn Medicine Park against the Gastonia Honey Hunters.
Summary
A.J. Alexy, a former MLB pitcher and standout performer for the Lancaster Stormers in 2024, is rejoining the team for the 2025 season. Known for his dependability and positive locker room presence, Alexy’s return bolsters the Stormers’ bullpen ahead of the team’s season opener.
