LANCASTER, PA — In a disturbing case that has rocked the Elizabethtown School District, a former paraprofessional has pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of two teenage students. Megan Carlisle, 38, of Greenleaf Lane, entered her plea before Lancaster County Judge Dennis Reinaker on Wednesday.
Carlisle, who previously worked as an in-school suspension monitor, faced charges including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a minor under 16, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, obscene or sexually explicit contact, and the dissemination of sexually explicit materials to a minor. She was also charged with two counts of corruption of minors.
Further adding to her litany of crimes, Carlisle pleaded no contest to four counts of institutional sexual contact with a student. The charges were identical for both victims, one aged 14 and the other 15.
The Northwest Regional Police Department began its investigation in May 2023 after receiving reports of inappropriate sexually explicit videos, pictures, and texts being sent from Carlisle to students in the Elizabethtown School District.
On May 25, 2023, Carlisle was charged with inappropriately touching the 15-year-old victim during an in-school suspension session on April 28 and sending him sexually explicit messages. The abuse escalated when Carlisle picked up the victim later that evening and assaulted him in a Mount Joy parking lot. Following the assault, she sent the victim money via Cash App for food and gave him vape pods the next day.
A second set of charges concerning the 14-year-old victim was filed on June 15, 2023.
Judge Reinaker will deliver Carlisle’s sentence at a later date, following a pre-sentence investigation and a sexually violent predator determination. Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick is prosecuting the case, with Northwest Regional Police Department Detective Frank Ember filing the charges.
