PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that SEPTA will initiate rail improvements on 49th Street in Philadelphia starting Monday, September 9. The project will lead to road closures and detours through September 27.
From 7:00 AM on September 9 to 5:00 PM on September 27, 49th Street will be closed between Woodland Avenue and Grays Avenue. Motorists will need to follow the detour using Woodland Avenue, 65th Street, and Lindbergh Boulevard. Despite the closure, local access up to the work zone will be preserved.
Drivers should anticipate potential delays and plan for extra travel time. As always, the schedule for these activities is subject to weather conditions. This initiative is part of SEPTA’s ongoing efforts to upgrade and maintain the region’s rail infrastructure.
