HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) has introduced “Bunny Hill Weekends” as part of the Visit PA Best Winter Ever campaign. This initiative, designed to attract beginner skiers and families, aligns with Governor Josh Shapiro’s strategy to enhance tourism and drive economic growth across the state.
Deputy Secretary of Tourism Anne Ryan highlighted Pennsylvania’s broad appeal, stating that the Commonwealth offers some of the most picturesque and family-friendly winter destinations in the region. With more than 20 resorts statewide, Pennsylvania provides opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing in locations like the Poconos and the Allegheny Mountains.
Bunny Hill Weekends, set for February 8-9 and March 1-2, feature promotions aimed at beginners. Participating resorts include:
- Blue Mountain Resort (Poconos): $50 off a Family & Friends Beginner Ski or Snowboard lesson package with the code PORA50.
- Mount Pleasant of Edinboro (northwestern PA): Free upgrades to full slope lift tickets with beginner ski packages purchased online or in person, subject to availability.
- Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain (northeast PA): $10 off a Learn to Package using promo code BUNNY25 at checkout.
- Shawnee Mountain Ski Area (northeast PA): 20% off First Time Ski or Snowboard Packages for the first 50 Sunday guests who use code VISITSHAWNEE online.
Alongside the ski promotions, Visit PA is also sponsoring the popular Winterfest ice rink in Philadelphia, which attracts over 350,000 visitors annually. Until March 2, guests can enjoy skating, heated cabins, fire pits, and local cuisine on the Delaware River waterfront.
The Visit PA Best Winter Ever campaign emphasizes Pennsylvania’s unique winter charm by showcasing activities like ice festivals, stargazing in Dark Sky Parks, the iconic Groundhog Day celebrations in Punxsutawney, and the renowned PA Farm Show.
This multifaceted approach aims to bring more visitors to Pennsylvania’s winter attractions, providing both memorable experiences and an economic boost for local communities.
