HARRISBURG, PAWalmart is set to invest heavily in Pennsylvania this year, with plans for 26 store remodels, enhanced associate benefits, and significant contributions to local communities. These initiatives reflect Walmart’s ongoing efforts to improve the shopping experience and support the regions it serves.

“Our stores often serve as the heartbeat of the communities we operate in, and these remodels are a testament to our dedication to enhancing that role,” said Annie Walker, Senior Vice President, East Business Unit at Walmart. “By investing in our stores and associates, we are not only improving the shopping experience but also reinforcing our commitment to being a vital part of the community’s fabric, helping to build a brighter future for all.”

Upgraded Shopping Experiences
Among Walmart’s ambitious plans for 2025 is the goal to remodel over 650 stores nationwide, including the 26 in Pennsylvania. These updates will include bold new signage, expanded departments, more product variety, upgraded online pickup and delivery options, and reimagined pharmacy layouts featuring private screening rooms and wider aisles.

Supporting Associates
Pennsylvania is home to 159 Walmart retail units and 10 supply chain facilities, employing over 59,000 associates. Last year, nearly 3,000 state employees were promoted to higher-paying roles, including part-time workers advancing to full-time positions. Walmart also recognized 29,715 Pennsylvania hourly associates with bonuses this March. Through programs like Live Better U, employees can earn company-funded certifications and degrees, access therapy sessions, and participate in 401(k) plans with matching contributions.

Community Contributions
Walmart and its affiliates contributed $35.7 million to Pennsylvania communities in fiscal year 2024. Local suppliers benefited from $16.2 billion in spending, supporting over 156,000 jobs. Additionally, Walmart donated 18 million pounds of food to state food banks, equivalent to 15 million meals.
