HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) is urging parents and caregivers to take immediate action following the recall of Yaomiao Children’s Jewelry Sets. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission determined that the jewelry contains lead and cadmium levels exceeding federal safety standards, posing a serious risk to children’s health.

“Lead and cadmium are heavy metals that can be harmful if ingested and pose a significant risk to infant and child health,” stressed Secretary of Health Dr. Debra Bogen. She also encouraged parents to ensure children receive routine lead screenings, which can help prevent long-term developmental harm by identifying elevated lead levels early.

The recall includes three Yaomiao-branded jewelry sets, sold exclusively online through Amazon.com between January 2022 and March 2024. Each set, priced at $8 to $21, consists of three to 12 silver-colored pieces adorned with multicolored gems shaped as unicorns, stars, hearts, or rainbows. The products were packaged in lavender boxes labeled “A Special Gift for the Charming You.”

Consumers who purchased the jewelry are advised to stop using it and dispose of the items immediately. Pictures of disposed sets can be sent to simlordroadple@163.com, and purchasers may contact the seller, LordRoads, for a full refund.

Health officials emphasize the potential dangers to children, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding women, if exposed to these metals. Parents who believe their child may have come in contact with the recalled products should consult a healthcare provider about scheduling a blood lead test.

The DOH provides resources for lead exposure prevention and testing, including a toll-free hotline, 1-800-440-LEAD. Concerned individuals can call for further information or visit the DOH website to learn more about the risks and impacts of lead poisoning.
