HARRISBURG, PA — State Senator Katie Muth (D-Chester/Montgomery/Berks) has been reappointed as Democratic Chair of the Senate Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee for the upcoming 2025-26 legislative session. Muth has held the position since 2021, where she has been a leading advocate for veterans, members of the National Guard, and emergency personnel across Pennsylvania.

“I am honored to again serve as Chair of the Senate Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee where I can advocate for our veterans, our National Guard members, our first responders, and all emergency personnel,” Muth said.

Highlighting her priorities for the committee, Muth emphasized efforts to enhance access to veteran support services, strengthen benefits and opportunities for National Guard members and their families, and secure funding and mental health resources for first responders. “I look forward to continuing to work on initiatives that ensure our veterans have access to appropriate programs and services… and the tools they need to serve and protect our communities,” she added.

In addition to her role as Minority Chair, Senator Muth will serve on several key Senate committees, including the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee; Finance Committee; State Government Committee; and the Community, Economic, and Recreational Development Committee.

The Pennsylvania Senate is set to return to session on Monday, January 27 at 1 p.m.
