HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania’s rich tradition of celebrating agriculture and community spirit will once again be highlighted at the 2025 PA Farm Show, thanks to the “Oh, Say, Can You Sing?” contest. Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding announced the opening of entries for this annual event, which seeks vocal talent from across the state to perform the national anthem live during the fair.

The contest, open to residents of all ages, offers individuals and groups the chance to showcase their singing prowess at the state’s largest agricultural event. Each morning from January 4-11, 2025, the PA Farm Show will commence with the national anthem performed live by contest winners. This year, the Farm Show’s theme, “Powering Pennsylvania,” underscores the importance of pride and freedom, values echoed through the powerful renditions of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Participants can enter by submitting a video of themselves singing the anthem without instrumental accompaniment. Submissions can be made via email by sending a YouTube link to agcontests@pa.gov or by posting the link in the comments section of the Pennsylvania Farm Show Facebook page under posts related to the contest. The deadline for entries is set for 11:59 p.m. on November 17, 2024.

Once the submission phase concludes, the contest will move to a public voting stage. Finalists, selected by the Farm Show committee, will have their performances posted on the Farm Show’s Facebook page, where fans can vote using reactions such as likes and loves. Voting will be open from November 19 through November 24, 2024, ending at 11:59 p.m. The top ten finalists, determined by the highest number of positive reactions, will be announced on Facebook and notified via email.

Winners of the contest will not only gain the honor of performing live at the esteemed Farm Show but will also receive a free parking pass for the day of their performance. Each winner is required to arrive at the Farm Show Complex by 7:45 a.m. on their designated singing day, with their performance scheduled for 8:00 a.m.

The “Oh, Say, Can You Sing?” contest not only highlights Pennsylvania’s vocal talent but also reinforces the community’s connection to the agricultural heritage celebrated at the Farm Show.
