Shine a Spotlight on Safety: Nominations Open for Pennsylvania’s Prestigious 2025 Workplace Excellence Award

Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry

HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) has announced the opening of nominations for the prestigious 2025 Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence (GASE), an annual initiative recognizing employers who prioritize exceptional workplace safety and injury prevention programs. The award serves to spotlight organizations across the Commonwealth that go beyond compliance to foster a culture of safety.

“Our workers are safer today because employers have committed to establishing and upholding safety practices,” said L&I Secretary Nancy A. Walker. “The most successful companies in Pennsylvania are those that integrate safety as a core element of their operations, ensuring their employees, who are their greatest asset, are protected.”

The nomination process is open to Pennsylvania-based employers, who may either nominate themselves or be nominated by a third party. Applications for the 2025 awards must be submitted no later than Thursday, May 1, 2025.  Information about how to nominate an employer is available on L&I’s website.

The Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence is an example of the state’s effort to promote strategies that reduce workplace injuries and protect employees. Through these efforts, businesses benefit from improved productivity and a healthier workforce while setting a standard for others to follow.

By celebrating companies with outstanding safety records, Pennsylvania highlights the critical value of safeguarding workers as a foundation for long-term success. Employers are encouraged to apply and demonstrate their dedication to building safer workplaces for all.
