PITTSBURGH, PA — Nicholas Ostheimer, a 26-year-old resident of Sharon, entered a guilty plea in federal court on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, for his involvement in a large-scale narcotics operation. Ostheimer’s admission before United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon marked a significant victory for law enforcement agencies working tirelessly to curb the flow of dangerous drugs into communities.

The young man confessed to conspiring to distribute staggering quantities of illicit substances, including over 500 grams of cocaine, 40 grams or more of fentanyl, and over 100 grams of heroin, during a year-long spree from June 2020 to June 2021. Additionally, Ostheimer owned up to distributing cocaine on November 18, 2020, and possessing a hefty 500 grams or more of cocaine alongside a quantity of cocaine base on June 17, 2021.

With the sentencing date set for July 30, 2024, Ostheimer faces a daunting future, with the law stipulating a minimum of five years to a maximum of 40 years behind bars. The final sentence, which could also include a fine of up to $5 million, will reflect the gravity of Ostheimer’s crimes and his previous criminal record, if any.

Assistant United States Attorneys Benjamin C. Dobkin and Craig W. Haller are leading the charge in prosecuting this case, representing a united front of federal and state law enforcement agencies dedicated to dismantling drug trafficking networks. The collaborative investigation that brought Ostheimer to justice involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, and several local police departments, showcasing an unprecedented level of cooperation among agencies.
