LANCASTER, MOOSIC, SCRANTON, PASenator Dave McCormick (R-Pennsylvania) spent Friday, March 21, meeting with community and business leaders across Lancaster County and Northeastern Pennsylvania, focusing on workforce development, economic growth, and support for veterans and first responders.

Kicking off the day in Lancaster, Senator McCormick toured Tec Centro, a bilingual workforce development center dedicated to equipping unemployed and underemployed Pennsylvanians with critical vocational skills. Joined by Congressman Lloyd Smucker, he observed classes in welding, IT support, and HVAC training. McCormick praised the center’s ability to empower individuals with the skills needed to compete in today’s evolving job market. “Tec Centro provides a vital pathway for Pennsylvanians to gain meaningful employment and achieve economic mobility,” McCormick said.

Later, McCormick joined a roundtable with business and community leaders in Moosic. The discussion, which included Congressmen Rob Bresnahan and Dan Meuser as well as other regional officials, centered on opportunities for investment and job creation as Northeast Pennsylvania continues to attract attention from businesses. “This region has tremendous potential,” McCormick noted, emphasizing his commitment to fostering partnerships that stimulate economic growth in the Poconos and beyond.

The day concluded with a visit to Camp Freedom in Scranton, where McCormick met with the organization’s Executive Director, Matt Guedes. Camp Freedom offers outdoor recreational activities to disabled veterans and first responders, supporting their physical and emotional well-being. McCormick, a combat veteran himself, lauded the nonprofit’s impact, saying, “Those who have served our nation deserve comprehensive support, and Camp Freedom provides an invaluable resource for healing and connection.”

Senator McCormick’s engagements reflect his ongoing efforts to enhance opportunities for Pennsylvania’s workforce, strengthen regional economies, and advocate for those who have served the country. His visits underscore a commitment to addressing the diverse needs of communities across the Commonwealth.
