PENNSYLVANIA — In a significant development announced on Saturday, the Pennsylvania State Democratic Committee endorsed Ryan Bizzarro as their candidate for State Treasurer. The move is aimed at defeating the commonwealth’s current State Treasurer, Republican Stacy Garrity.
Bizzarro, an Erie County Democrat, made history as the first individual from his county to earn endorsement for a statewide office. If successful in his bid, he will become the first statewide office holder from Erie County since former Governor and Homeland Security Advisor Tom Ridge.
Bizzarro expressed his gratitude for the endorsement, stating, “I am truly humbled and honored to earn the support of my party and the people who’ve dedicated their lives to building a better future for working families of every type and every size. We made history today, but we’re just getting started.”
He added that this endorsement sends a clear message that Democrats across the commonwealth are seeking candidates capable of defeating extremists and defending the rights and future of Pennsylvanians.
The endorsement by the Democratic State Committee adds to an already impressive list of over 150 Democratic officials and Unions representing more than 100,000 workers from every corner of the commonwealth who have thrown their support behind Bizzarro’s campaign.
As the race for State Treasurer heats up, Bizzarro’s campaign continues to gather momentum. In the coming weeks, it will be interesting to see how this endorsement shapes the political landscape in Pennsylvania.
