PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pennsylvania woman has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for her involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy that spanned a year, according to an announcement made by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
Katlyn McGirr, 31, from Sharon, Pennsylvania, was handed down the sentence by United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon. The judge further ordered McGirr to serve four years of supervised release following the completion of her prison term.
McGirr has admitted responsibility for distributing significant quantities of various illicit substances. According to court documents, these included 150 grams of powder cocaine, 30 grams of crack cocaine, 20 grams of fentanyl, 20 grams of heroin, and 10 grams of methamphetamine. These distributions took place from June 2020 to June 2021.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Benjamin C. Dobkin and Craig W. Haller on behalf of the United States.
The successful prosecution of McGirr is the result of the collaborative efforts of numerous law enforcement agencies. These include the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Pennsylvania State Police, and several local police departments.
United States Attorney Olshan praised the collective efforts of these agencies in the investigation that led to McGirr’s prosecution. The case was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation, which aims to identify, disrupt, and dismantle high-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that pose threats to communities across the United States.
