PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania students from three universities have advanced to the second round in the 2023 Conference of State Banking Supervisors (CSBS) Community Bank Case Study Competition, announced Pennsylvania Interim Acting Secretary of Banking and Securities Wendy Spicher.  The competition partners student teams with local community banks to conduct original case studies.
“We have a responsibility to invest and help shape the industry workforce for tomorrow,” said Spicher. “The competition gives students valuable hands-on experience as they research and analyze how local banks are planning for the future. I’m delighted to see three of the 14 schools advancing to the next round are from Pennsylvania.”
The Pennsylvania teams advancing are:
- Bloomsburg University (Bloomsburg, Columbia County) partnering with First Citizens Community Bank
- Mansfield University (Mansfield, Tioga County), partnering with Citizens & Northern Bank
- Messiah University (Grantham, Cumberland County) partnering with LINKBANK
This is the ninth year of the competition and included 34 teams from across the country. Top performing teams receive scholarships, have their case studies published by CSBS, and are invited to present their case studies at a national regulatory research and policy conference. The top three teams will be announced on July 12 at the CSBS State Federal Supervisory Forum, held this year in Philadelphia. Learn more about the 2023 Community Bank Case Study Competition.
