BETHLEHEM, PA — At the 48th Biennial Conference of the Fraternal Order of Police Pennsylvania State Lodge (PA FOP), the organization, along with the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association (PSTA), endorsed a slate of Republican candidates for statewide office. These endorsements reflect the candidates’ strong backgrounds in public service and commitment to law enforcement.
Dave McCormick: U.S. Senate Candidate
Dave McCormick, a seventh-generation Pennsylvanian, is running for U.S. Senate. A West Point graduate and Bronze Star recipient, McCormick served as a combat veteran before earning a doctorate in international relations from Princeton University. He later moved to Pittsburgh to work in business, eventually becoming CEO of FreeMarkets, a tech startup. McCormick also served as under secretary of Treasury and deputy national security advisor, where he focused on protecting American technology from Chinese theft and advised President George W. Bush on national security.
Dave Sunday: Attorney General Candidate
Dave Sunday is running for Attorney General, bringing his experience as York County’s district attorney. He oversees approximately 9,000 criminal cases annually and leads efforts to increase public safety and combat illegal drugs. A U.S. Navy veteran, Sunday served in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Strike and conducted counter-narcotics operations in the Caribbean.
Tim DeFoor: Auditor General Candidate
Tim DeFoor is seeking re-election as Auditor General. With over 25 years of experience in law enforcement and auditing, DeFoor oversees more than 4,000 audits annually to ensure state tax dollars are used effectively. He previously investigated fraud, waste, and abuse in the Office of State Inspector General and Medicaid fraud as a special agent for the attorney general. DeFoor also served as Dauphin County controller.
Stacy Garrity: Treasurer Candidate
Stacy Garrity is running for re-election as Treasurer, managing over $150 billion in commonwealth funds. During her first term, she returned more than $4.5 billion in unclaimed property to its rightful owners. A retired colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, Garrity returned hundreds of military decorations to veterans or their families, including six Purple Hearts and three Bronze Stars.
Endorsements and Support
“These candidates have a deep understanding and respect for the rule of law,” said state FOP President Joe Regan. “We’re proud to endorse a slate with a track record of outstanding accomplishments as public servants and for their support of the law enforcement community.”
PSTA President Stephen Polishan added, “We’re endorsing true public servants who understand the mission of law enforcement and support providing local and state police with the resources they need to do their jobs and go home safely.”
These endorsements by PA FOP and PSTA aim to highlight the candidates’ dedication to public service and law enforcement, aiming to strengthen the safety and security of Pennsylvania communities.
