CAMP HILL, PA — The Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF) is inviting nominations for its 2025 Annual Parks and Forests Awards. These awards aim to honor outstanding contributions to Pennsylvania’s parks and forests, recognizing exemplary programs, services, and individuals who have made a lasting impact on the stewardship and preservation of the state’s natural resources.

With a mission centered on conservation through volunteerism and education, the PPFF annual awards highlight achievements that protect and enhance public lands, create welcoming spaces for all, and ensure future generations will enjoy the state’s outdoor treasures.

Nomination Process and Deadlines
The nomination process is open to the public, with nominations due by December 13, 2024. Forms can be found on the PPFF website and will be evaluated by a panel of board members and special guest reviewers. The awards ceremony is scheduled for May 13, 2025, at Little Buffalo State Park.

Award Categories for Public Nominations
Several categories are available for public nomination, including the following:

  • Park of the Year recognizes a park’s innovative work in areas such as visitor services, programming, natural asset stewardship, or accessibility.
  • Forest of the Year honors achievements in effective forest management and recreational programming while maintaining ecosystem integrity.
  • Volunteerism Awards celebrate the efforts of individuals, groups, or PPFF chapters that have significantly improved parks or forests through projects or education.
  • Young Volunteer of the Year acknowledges contributions from individuals under 25, highlighting impactful volunteer hours, projects, or ideas.

Additional Honors
Beyond public nominations, the PPFF Board will present three additional awards, including the prestigious Cliff Jones Keystone Legacy Award, the Joseph Ibberson Government Award, and the President’s Award, to recognize remarkable achievements in conservation, governance, and advocacy.
