HARRISBURG, PA — The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has officially opened its latest round of Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2) grants to support parks, recreation, and conservation initiatives throughout Pennsylvania. Applications are now being accepted through April 2 at 4 p.m.
These grant opportunities align with the Shapiro Administration’s efforts to revitalize communities, bolster public health, and expand access to outdoor recreation within Pennsylvania’s $19 billion outdoor recreation industry. Last year alone, more than $80 million was allocated to over 300 projects statewide, leading to the development of 25 new parks, the rehabilitation of 85 existing ones, and the preservation of 6,800 acres for recreation and habitat protection.
“These grants are key to achieving our goal of investing in the things that make communities great—public health, safety, and wellness for all Pennsylvanians,” said DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn. “By supporting projects that improve parks, trails, and green spaces, we’re fostering stronger, healthier communities and boosting local economies.”
Eligible applicants include local governments and nonprofit organizations, with funding available for projects such as park rehabilitation, land conservation, trail planning and development, streamside planting, and river access improvements. DCNR Deputy Secretary Claire Jantz reiterated the program’s importance, saying, “These grants are key in helping DCNR accomplish its mission to conserve and sustain Pennsylvania’s natural resources for present and future generations’ use and enjoyment.”
Grants are funded through state and federal sources, such as the Keystone Recreation, Park, and Conservation Fund and the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Interested applicants are encouraged to connect with regional advisors for guidance on submissions and project feasibility.
To date, the C2P2 grant program has contributed to protecting more than 435,000 acres across Pennsylvania, enhancing outdoor spaces and ensuring equitable recreation access for residents across the Commonwealth.
