PITTSBURGH, PA — In a case that has captured the attention of communities across Pennsylvania and beyond, James Jordan, a 31-year-old resident of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to a decade in federal prison on April 8, 2024, for the crime of transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. Following his incarceration, Jordan will be under supervised release for 15 years, as ordered by United States District Judge William S. Stickman.
The conviction stems from an incident that occurred between January 11 and January 12, 2022, during which Jordan transported a minor from Pennsylvania to West Virginia. The purpose of this journey, as established in court, was for the minor to engage in criminal sexual activities. This act not only constitutes a violation of federal law but also represents a profound breach of trust and exploitation of vulnerability.
During the sentencing, Judge Stickman highlighted the gravity of Jordan’s actions, emphasizing the betrayal of trust and the manipulation of the victim’s youth and naivety to conceal his criminal intentions. These remarks underscore the serious nature of the offense and the lasting impact it may have on the victim.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan, who represented the government in the proceedings against Jordan. The successful prosecution is the culmination of a collaborative effort among several law enforcement agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security – Pittsburgh, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Pennsylvania State Police, Waynesburg Police Department, and Lewisburg (WV) Police Department. United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan acknowledged the contributions of these agencies in bringing Jordan to justice.
