Pennsylvania Man Sentenced for Attempted Receipt of Material Involving the Sexual Exploitation of a Child

PITTSBURGH, PA — A resident of Pittsburgh, PA, has been sentenced in federal court to 90 months imprisonment followed by 7 years of supervised release on his conviction of attempted receipt of material involving the sexual exploitation of a child.

United States District Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand imposed the sentence on Thomas Hunt, 32 on July 10, 2023.

According to information presented to the court, Hunt attempted to meet with an individual who he believed to be a 13-year-old minor in person and attempted to receive material, from this minor, involving the sexual exploitation of minors from September 13, 2021, to October 13, 2021. Instead, Hunt was speaking to an undercover law enforcement officer.

Assistant United States Attorney Michael L. Mitchell prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

United States Attorney Olshan commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Hunt.
