HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) has announced a significant investment in alcohol education, awarding more than $3.3 million in grants for the 2024-26 period. This funding will support 86 schools, community organizations, and law enforcement agencies across 41 counties in Pennsylvania.
Out of 102 grant applications, 86 were selected to receive a share of $3,312,205. Each grant can provide up to $50,000 over two years, targeting a range of initiatives designed to combat underage and dangerous alcohol consumption.
A notable portion of the grants, with 23 awards, will bolster community law enforcement efforts. These funds aim to enhance underage drinking patrols, improve training, and support community outreach and equipment acquisition. Another 23 grants will empower community and nonprofit organizations to implement educational programs such as MADD’s Power of Parents® and Parents Who Host Lose the Most®.
Primary and secondary schools will benefit from eight grants, funding programs that include social norms media campaigns and impaired driving simulations. The emphasis is on reaching students directly and effectively. Higher education institutions are set to receive 31 grants, which will enable the development of strategies to reduce underage drinking. This includes the use of surveys, enforcement efforts, and participation in alcohol education conferences, alongside innovative programs like EVERFI AlcoholEdu®.
Additionally, one grant will support a for-profit organization focused on peer-to-peer outreach and producing public service announcements.
Through these targeted investments, the PLCB aims to foster safer communities by addressing alcohol-related issues at multiple levels, ensuring a comprehensive approach to education and prevention across the Commonwealth.
