HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Jewish Legislative Caucus has issued a statement condemning the recent terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel. The attack occurred on Shemini Atzeret, a holiday intended to be a time of joyous celebration for the Jewish people. Instead, it was marked by the deliberate murder and abduction of civilians in what the Caucus described as one of the most heinous acts of terrorism in Israel’s history.
The Caucus expressed its deep sorrow over the incident and extended its support to the people of Israel and the Israeli Defense Forces. They affirmed Israel’s right to defend itself and its people against such attacks. The Caucus also offered its prayers for the people of Israel as they navigate this difficult time.
“Saturday was Shemini Atzeret, a holiday meant to be a day of joyous celebration for the Jewish people. Instead, we are heartbroken to learn that Hamas orchestrated a terrorist attack deliberately murdering and abducting civilians, marring this holy day as one of the most heinous acts of terrorism in Israel’s history.
“Israel has a right to defend itself, and our hearts go out to the people of Israel and the Israeli Defense Forces as they fight to secure their homeland.
“We stand with Israel as they defend against this attack, and we pray for the people of Israel.”
The Pennsylvania Jewish Legislative Caucus is co-chaired by state Rep. Dan Frankel, D-Allegheny, and state Sen. Judy Schwank, D-Berks. The Caucus serves as a collective voice for Jewish legislators in Pennsylvania and advocates for policies and legislation that benefit the Jewish community in the state.
