HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (L&I) has announced a strategic investment exceeding $4 million in Industry Partnership grant funding. This initiative is part of a broader effort under Governor Josh Shapiro’s leadership to bolster workforce development and economic growth across the Commonwealth.

The Industry Partnership program is designed to foster collaboration among businesses within key sectors such as agriculture, information technology, robotics, healthcare, transportation, and manufacturing. By addressing critical workforce needs through targeted training initiatives and recruitment strategies, the program aims to align with both present and future industry demands.

L&I Secretary Nancy A. Walker emphasized the significance of this investment, stating, “This $4 million investment in Industry Partnership grants is a pivotal step in fostering collaboration across Pennsylvania’s key sectors. Under Governor Shapiro’s leadership, we are committed to strengthening industry connections, enhancing training opportunities, and driving economic growth.”

Governor Shapiro’s administration has been proactive in creating pathways to good-paying jobs, as demonstrated by the recent budget increase for vocational and technical education. The budget also expanded funding for registered apprenticeship programs, especially in the nursing field, addressing critical workforce shortages.

The $4 million funding will be allocated in grants of up to $400,000 each, aimed at enhancing economic growth and preparing workers for both current roles and future career advancements. Eligible recipients of these grants include local workforce development boards, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, labor organizations, and business associations.

Projects supported by these grants are expected to improve worker recruitment and retention, increase the attainment of industry-recognized credentials, boost wages, create new jobs, and ensure the retention of newly hired employees. The initiative underscores a commitment to equipping Pennsylvanians with the skills needed to thrive in a dynamic economic landscape.
