HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General has announced the winners of its 28th Annual Drug-Free Calendar Contest. This statewide initiative, held in October in observance of National Substance Abuse Prevention Month, highlights the importance of combating drug addiction through education and encourages fifth-grade students to champion drug-free lifestyles.
Attorney General Michelle Henry commended the effort, emphasizing its dual purpose of empowering students and raising awareness. “Our annual calendar contest is about celebrating the talents of our incredible students and empowering young people to make smart, safe choices,” Henry stated.
The contest received over 1,800 entries from 402 schools across 43 counties, selecting 13 winners whose artwork will appear in the Office’s 2025 calendar. Each piece creatively conveys a strong anti-drug message. Every winner will receive a certificate and a $529 contribution to a Pennsylvania 529 College Savings Program account, with funding provided through the Community Drug Abuse Prevention Fund.
The artwork selected for the calendar includes a cover illustration by Lily Tirk of St. Wendelin Catholic School in Butler County. Monthly winners represent a broad range of schools and counties across Pennsylvania, with student entries evaluated on creativity and effectiveness in delivering the drug-free theme.
This contest not only serves as an educational tool but also reinforces Pennsylvania’s collective efforts to address the addiction crisis by promoting meaningful youth engagement. The calendar will be distributed statewide in the coming year as part of the continuous effort to deter substance use and foster informed, healthy communities.
