HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Rick Siger has announced the approval of 224 new projects through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), amounting to over $87 million in funding. This initiative spotlights the state’s effort to strengthen infrastructure, improve transportation systems, and drive economic growth across Pennsylvania.
These investments are set to support a variety of infrastructure and community enhancement projects across the state. The Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) received the bulk of the funding, with $87 million allocated to 223 projects aimed at improving streetscapes, sidewalks, bike paths, pedestrian safety, and overall transportation connectivity. Notable examples include the reconstruction of the Clark Street Bridge in Schuylkill County, intersection upgrades in Allegheny County, and streetscape developments in Wayne County.
Additionally, the First Industries Fund (FIF) approved a $400,000 project in Lancaster County. This funding will support a new caretaker’s residence at the Refreshing Mountain Camp to foster growth in the tourism sector.
“These investments reflect our commitment to making Pennsylvania communities safer, more accessible, and economically vibrant,” said Secretary Siger, emphasizing their potential to enhance daily life for residents and visitors alike while supporting local economies.
Since its establishment in 2004, the CFA has played a pivotal role in financing economic development programs and infrastructure improvements statewide. By targeting critical infrastructure needs, the approved projects aim to enhance quality of life and position Pennsylvania communities for long-term success.
As the projects move forward, state officials anticipate significant progress in improving transportation networks and fostering economic activity. These developments are expected to lay the groundwork for sustained growth and prosperity, benefiting Pennsylvanians for years to come.
