PENNSYLVANIA — Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding has extended an invitation to Pennsylvanians to kickstart the new year by celebrating the state’s finest local produce at the 108th PA Farm Show’s PA Preferred® Reception on January 5, 2024.

The PA Preferred Reception serves as the official launch for the much-anticipated 2024 Farm Show, known as the Pennsylvania State Fairâ„¢. The theme for this year’s show is ‘Connecting Our Communities.’

“Through the PA Preferred reception, we aim to foster connections between the producers of Pennsylvania’s best products, the Shapiro Administration, the General Assembly, and private industry supporters throughout Pennsylvania,” said Secretary Redding.

This year marks a significant milestone for PA Preferred – the 20th anniversary of its inception. The program, launched two decades ago, supports Pennsylvania farmers by giving their products a statewide brand identity. This allows consumers to easily identify and purchase locally grown and processed food, beverages, and other agricultural products, such as hardwoods.

By purchasing PA Preferred products, consumers not only enjoy top-quality shopping options, but they also support Pennsylvania farmers and contribute to strengthening the local economy.

The reception is set to take place at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. Tickets are priced at $40 for the general public. In celebration of PA Preferred’s 20th anniversary, tickets are offered at a discounted rate of $20 for PA Preferred members. Military-veteran farmers who are members of Home Grown By Heroes can attend for free. The ticket price includes admission to the reception, parking, heavy hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and a short program featuring the people and products of Pennsylvania agriculture.
