PITTSBURGH, PA — Sahire Walker, 45, from New Castle, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to a solid decade behind bars. The sentencing, announced by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan on March 26, 2024, marks a significant victory in the battle against the drug menace plaguing the streets.

United States District Judge David Stewart Cercone was the one to lay down the law, ordering Walker not only to serve 120 months in federal prison but also to undergo six years of supervised release thereafter. This comes after Walker’s guilty plea to charges of possessing crack cocaine with the intent to distribute and brandishing a firearm to further his illegal drug trafficking endeavors.

The court heard how, on the night of June 4, 2020, Walker was caught red-handed with both the illicit substance and a loaded pistol in a rental vehicle he was driving. This wasn’t a first-time offense for Walker; he already had five drug trafficking convictions to his name over the last 15 years.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller led the prosecution, ensuring that justice was served. The successful conviction and sentencing were the culmination of a rigorous investigation by the New Castle Police Department, alongside federal agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
