Monroe County Man Receives Seven-Year Sentence for Role in Fentanyl Drug Trafficking Conspiracy

SCRANTON, PA — A man from Tobyhanna, Monroe County, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for his involvement in a fentanyl drug trafficking conspiracy. Jonathyn White, also known as “Jay,” age 28, was handed the sentence by U.S. District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion, as announced on Friday, December 1, 2023.

United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam disclosed that White pleaded guilty to a drug trafficking conspiracy on May 30, 2023. White admitted that he conspired with others to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute between 40 grams and less than 160 grams of fentanyl. These illicit activities took place throughout Monroe County, beginning in 2019 and continuing until July 2021.

White’s sentence was increased due to his maintenance of premises used for storing and distributing fentanyl.

In addition to his prison term, Judge Mannion ordered White to serve a period of eight years of supervised release following his release from custody.

The case was jointly investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Scranton and the Pennsylvania State Police. Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Olshefski prosecuted the case.
