PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Rick Siger has announced three new project approvals through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), amounting to an impressive $8,692,530 in grants and loans. These projects aim to bolster community revitalization efforts and improve infrastructure across Pennsylvania.

Secretary Siger commented on the projects, stating that they “will grow our economy and improve the quality of life for Pennsylvanians. Investments like these will help make the Commonwealth a better place to live, work, and prosper.”

The Building PA initiative received $7,474,120 of the funding. This program is dedicated to fortifying Pennsylvania’s communities through loan guarantees, which can be used as working capital for industrial, commercial, and multi-use project real estate development in small to mid-sized communities.

Two notable Building PA loans were approved in Dauphin County. The Hershey Harrisburg Performing Arts Center, LLC, was awarded $3,000,000 for the renovation of the Harrisburg House of Music Arts & Culture (HMAC). Pennsylvania Social Equity Land Trust, Inc. received $4,474,120 to renovate a 64,800-square-foot building in Harrisburg, aiming to promote health and wellness in the Camp Curtain neighborhood.

In addition, the Pipeline Investment Program (PIPE) received a grant of $1,218,410. PIPE provides grants to construct natural gas distribution lines to business parks and existing manufacturing and industrial enterprises. This crucial infrastructure improvement will create new jobs in the commonwealth while providing access to natural gas for residents.

A significant PIPE grant was approved in Cambria County for Jackson Township. The grant, worth $1,218,410, will be used to install a natural gas pressure lowering station and extend a natural gas line to the Jackson Township Business Park. This project will create 120 full-time jobs, fuel approximately 90 trucks with compressed natural gas, and provide 60 residential homeowners and one commercial customer with natural gas service.
