PITTSBURGH, PA — In a stern ruling, Rashawn Walker, 32, a resident of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 48 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Walker was convicted of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, according to an announcement made on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.

United States District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan imposed the sentence following a series of disturbing events involving Walker. On December 28, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Walker threatened to shoot up his girlfriend’s location. Just two hours later, Walker physically assaulted another woman and brandished a gun.

Police responded swiftly to these incidents, stopping Walker shortly after the second confrontation. They found him in possession of a Glock pistol, with a round in the chamber, and a 24-round extended magazine. Further evidence presented to the court revealed Walker’s ongoing possession of firearms on other occasions, a clear violation of federal law which prohibits felons from owning firearms or ammunition.

Judge Ranjan, in imposing the sentence, noted that Walker’s threatening conduct and continual possession of firearms warranted a sentence exceeding the advisory sentencing guidelines range.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Douglas C. Maloney on behalf of the government. United States Attorney Olshan commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their diligent investigation, which led to the successful prosecution of Walker.
