PITTSBURGH, PA — A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has indicted an Annapolis, Maryland resident on allegations of the sexual exploitation of a minor, as announced by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. The indictment brings to light accusations against George Luton, 49, across nine counts.

The charges set forth in the indictment allege that, during March 2024, Luton engaged in multiple attempts to use, persuade, induce, entice, and coerce a minor into participating in sexually explicit conduct for the creation of visual depictions of such activities. Additionally, it is alleged that on April 6, 2024, Luton traveled across state lines with the intent of engaging in illicit sexual conduct.

Federal guidelines dictate a maximum penalty for these offenses which could include up to 30 years in prison, fines reaching $250,000, or both, depending on the gravity of the crimes and Luton’s previous criminal record, if any exists.

Currently detained awaiting trial, Luton’s case falls under the prosecutorial jurisdiction of Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan. This case is not only a significant legal matter but also highlights the ongoing efforts by federal and local law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kiskiminetas Township Police Department, and Southern Armstrong Regional Police Department, to investigate and prosecute crimes involving the exploitation of minors.

It is important to note that these are allegations, and like all individuals accused of crimes, Luton is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
