LeadingAge PA Honors Exceptional Service to Senior Community in 2024 Distinguished Service Awards

MECHANICSBURG, PA — LeadingAge PA, an association devoted to the advocacy of more than 400 aging services providers, unveiled the recipients of its 2024 Distinguished Service Awards this week. The awards, held in high esteem in the industry, are handed to patrons in LeadingAge PA’s member communities who have shown outstanding commitment, compassion, and leadership in catering to seniors within their vicinities.

Garry Pezzano, President and CEO of LeadingAge PA, praised this year’s recipients for embodying the epitome of care and service, enriching the lives of numerous individuals within their communities. He enunciated the association’s commitment to acknowledge and celebrate the immense contributions of those serving older adults in Pennsylvania tirelessly.

The awards ceremony highlighted a broad spectrum of winners, each excelling at serving older adults in their unique capacities.

Dr. Carol McKinley won the Paul P. Haas Lifetime Achievement Award for dedicating her career to enhance the quality of life for seniors. As a transformative leader in long-term care, Celeste Golonski bagged the Leader of the Year award. Simpson Meadows’ Thomas Lee III displayed his dedication to operational efficiency, winning Manager of the Year. Presbyterian Senior Care Network’s dementia-support initiative, Project Barnabas, won the Innovation of the Year award.

Moreover, Sarah West was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year for her relentless dedication to enhancing her fellow residents’ lives. Certified Nursing Assistant Charles Hildenbrandt, known for providing care that makes patients feel cherished, won the Direct Caregiver of the Year award.

Kathleen Quinn Kagel was named Licensed Caregiver of the Year, recognized for her focus on quality and meticulous planning. Lori Stager, a culinary gem at Lebanon Valley Home, honored as the Staff Member of the Year for her excellence in meal service and mentorship.
