Inmate Found Dead at Rockview Correctional Facility: Investigation Underway

BELLEFONTE PA — The State Correctional Institution at Rockview has reported the death of inmate Reginald Hawkins, aged 69, who was discovered unresponsive in his cell on the morning of October 28. Despite swift intervention by prison staff and emergency medical services, Hawkins was pronounced dead at 7:24 a.m.

Hawkins was serving a sentence ranging from five to ten years following a conviction for Sexual Assault in Philadelphia County. He had been incarcerated at Rockview since May 2, 2024.

In line with standard procedure, the Pennsylvania State Police have been notified and are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Hawkins’ death. The Centre County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for determining the official cause of death.

The next of kin has been informed of Hawkins’ passing. The institution stated that it remains committed to cooperating fully with the authorities to ensure a comprehensive review of the incident.
