HARRISBURG, PA — Zedan RaShwan, a 25-year-old formerly of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to over two years in prison. The sentence was handed down on Wednesday by United States District Judge Sylvia H. Rambo, following RaShwan’s guilty plea to charges of wire fraud conspiracy and aggravated identity theft.

United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam shed light on the shocking details of RaShwan’s crimes. Along with his co-conspirators, RaShwan stole identities and DEA registration numbers of healthcare providers. This information was then used to order fraudulent prescriptions at various pharmacies.

But RaShwan didn’t stop at just ordering the prescriptions. He and his criminal cohorts went on to distribute the prescription medications they obtained. These included controlled substances and prescription medications such as Promethazine with Codeine, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Clonazepam.

RaShwan has been in custody since his guilty plea on March 1, 2023, and will now serve a total of 28 months behind bars. His conviction serves as a stark reminder of the lengths some individuals will go to in order to profit from the illegal drugs trade.

The case was investigated by the Food and Drug Administration, Office of the Inspector General, and by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Phillip J. Caraballo led the prosecution, ensuring RaShwan faced justice for his crimes.
