PENNSYLVANIA — The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Rick Siger recently announced a significant boost to Pennsylvania’s infrastructure and cultural sectors. A total of 1018 new projects have been approved through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), amounting to a whopping $335 million in grants.
This latest round of CFA awards reflects the Shapiro Administration’s commitment to strengthening communities, enhancing infrastructure, and stimulating economic development across the state.
Secretary Siger highlighted the administration’s commitment to delivering tangible results for Pennsylvanians. He emphasized that these substantial investments are geared towards creating safer, healthier communities across the Commonwealth. The scope of these projects is wide-ranging, from critical infrastructure improvements to supporting artists and cultural organizations financially impacted by the pandemic.
Three key programs benefiting from this funding include:
- PA Small Water and Sewer Program: 415 projects approved, with a total funding of $105.6 million. This program assists with the construction, improvement, expansion, or repair of water supply systems, sanitary sewer systems, storm sewer systems, or flood control projects.
- H2O PA – Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Water Projects: 209 projects approved, with a total funding of $214.4 million. This program aids in the construction of drinking water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater projects.
- PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program (PACR): 394 projects approved, with a total funding of $15 million. This program supports nonprofit arts and culture organizations, local arts and culture districts, and arts and culture professionals located in the Commonwealth to ensure stability and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The CFA, established in 2004, is an independent agency within the DCED that oversees Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. It bears fiduciary responsibility for funding programs and investments in the state’s economic growth.
With this significant financial boost, Pennsylvanians can look forward to improved infrastructure, a more vibrant arts scene, and an overall enhanced quality of life. For more detailed information about these approvals, visit the CFA’s website.
