ANNVILLE, PA — In a heartfelt ceremony held at the Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home in Erie, the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) recognized more than 50 employees for their outstanding contributions to servicemembers, veterans, and their families. On September 19, 2024, these individuals were celebrated for their dedication and innovative efforts that significantly impact the lives of those they serve.

Maj. Gen. Mark Schindler, Pennsylvania’s adjutant general, expressed profound appreciation for the employees’ service, stating, “Today my leadership team and I are proud to recognize our outstanding employees from across the DMVA. We want them to know how much we value and appreciate their hard work and dedication.” This recognition is particularly significant as it highlights the exceptional work and commitment of the staff in enhancing the welfare of veterans and their families.

The ceremony featured various accolades, including the prestigious TAG Award, which honors individuals or teams driving positive change for Pennsylvania veterans. This year, Emily Heubel, an administrative officer at PSSH, received the TAG Award for her remarkable leadership and efforts in optimizing admissions, ensuring the facility operates at full capacity.

Additionally, the 2024 DMVA Employee of the Year award was bestowed upon Elizabeth Sul-Celline, the facility reimbursement manager. Her dedication and exemplary performance have been instrumental in the efficient operation of veterans’ homes statewide.

The DMVA, employing over 2,500 civilian personnel across Pennsylvania, continues to exemplify its commitment to excellence and service, ensuring that veterans and their families receive the care and support they deserve.
