HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking public feedback on its 12-Year Transportation Program, an initiative designed to shape the future of transportation across the state. Part of the Shapiro Administration’s commitment to fostering a safe and efficient transportation system, this program supports the ways Pennsylvanians travel and businesses move goods to market.
Residents are encouraged to provide input through a public comment period open until Wednesday, April 30. This feedback will help PennDOT and the State Transportation Commission (STC) identify statewide transportation needs and determine priority projects for the upcoming years.
Pennsylvanians can submit comments by completing an online survey, emailing the department at RA-PennDOTSTC@pa.gov, or calling 717-783-2262 to request a printed copy or participate in the survey by phone. Additionally, an online public forum will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The forum will allow residents to address transportation-related questions to PennDOT leadership and STC members, with the option to submit questions in advance.
PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll emphasized the importance of community input, stating, “PA drivers, riders, pedestrians, and residents use our transportation system every day, and it’s critical that we hear directly from them as we plan for the next 12 years.”
The 12-Year Transportation Program, updated every two years, incorporates insights from the public and draws from the 2025 Transportation Performance Report (TPR). The TPR evaluates the current state of Pennsylvania’s transportation system and highlights progress opportunities, forming the foundation for future improvement plans.
Public engagement plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the state’s transportation programs address the real needs of communities and businesses. By taking part in the feedback process, Pennsylvanians can help shape the future of a transportation network that impacts daily life and the state’s economic vitality.
PennDOT will reasonably modify policies, programs, and documents to ensure equal access for people with disabilities or limited English proficiency. Those without Internet access can call (717) 783-2262 to listen to the virtual meeting.
To request assistance with the survey or Public Forum, email RA-PennDOTSTC@pa.gov or call 717-783-2262 between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM.
