HARRISBURG, PA — George E. Jones, a 43-year-old resident of Harrisburg, has been handed a hefty prison sentence totaling more than 14 years for his involvement in the cocaine trade. United States District Court Judge Jennifer P. Wilson delivered the verdict on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, marking a decisive moment in the fight against narcotics distribution.

Jones, no stranger to the criminal justice system, found himself back in the courtroom facing serious charges related to the possession and intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base exceeding 28 grams. This comes after his previous conviction in 2011 for drug trafficking, which saw him serving a decade-long sentence in federal prison. Barely two months after his release in May 2020, Jones reportedly dove back into the drug trade, peddling crack and powder cocaine on the streets of Harrisburg while still under supervised release.

The sentencing reflects the gravity of Jones’ repeat offenses, with Judge Wilson imposing a 151-month term for the cocaine trafficking charges. Adding insult to injury, Jones was also slapped with an additional 24-month sentence to run consecutively for breaching the terms of his supervised release from the prior conviction.

This case was brought to light thanks to the efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, in collaboration with the Harrisburg Police Bureau. Assistant United States Attorney Michael Consiglio led the prosecution, ensuring that Jones faces the full consequences of his actions.
