PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania’s biggest agricultural event of the year is right on the horizon. The 2024 PA Farm Show, led by Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, promises a host of exciting exhibits, competitions, and food experiences that celebrate the Keystone State’s vibrant agricultural community.
This year’s show includes an array of must-see exhibits, such as Goat Snuggling, hosted by Justin and Lauren Steinmetz of Steinmetz Family Farm in Fleetwood, PA. This unique experience allows attendees to get up close and personal with lovely goats for a small fee, which supports the Friends of Farm Show Foundation’s educational mission.
For those interested in farming, a tour titled So You Want to Be a Farmer will be hosted by Jen Brodsky, a farmer and regenerative food business consultant, and Christa Barfield, owner of the largest Black-woman-owned organic produce farm in the nation.
Foodies won’t want to miss the Pennsylvania Charcuterie Experience hosted by award-winning Chef Kurt Wewer. Visitors will be able to savor a sampling of Pennsylvania-grown and made food and beverages from the Main Hall Farmers Market and the PA Preferred® Culinary Connection Stage. The event will feature products like Pennsylvania wine, cheese, honey, maple, potatoes, and mushrooms.
Apple lovers are in for a treat with the PA Apple Growers Apple Wall, hosted by Ellie Vranich of Hollabaugh Brothers Orchards. And, new this year will be a Livestock Fitting Competition, where teams compete to groom their animals to perfection for the show ring.
The Pennsylvania Conservation “Pod” will provide insights into what PA Farmers are doing to protect our soil and water resources for future generations.
Before the grand opening of the Farm Show on January 6, visitors can enjoy the Farm Show Food Court, opening at noon on Friday, January 5. With a full menu of items representing the breadth and depth of Pennsylvania agriculture, there’s sure to be something for everyone.
The Farm Show is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of Pennsylvania’s agricultural heritage and future. It showcases top competitors from 108 county and local fairs and offers visitors a peek into the industry that supports 593,000 Pennsylvania jobs and contributes $132.5 billion to our economy every year.
The 2024 Pennsylvania Farm Show runs from Saturday, January 6 through Saturday, January 13 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.
