PITTSBURGH, PA — Jon Leslie Williams, a 65-year-old former resident of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, has pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender. The announcement was made on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.

Williams entered his guilty plea before Chief United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak. He was previously convicted in Michigan in 1991 for Criminal Sexual Conduct and in Florida in 2014 for sexually assaulting a blind and deaf woman. Both offenses mandated that Williams register as a sex offender.

Court records reveal that Williams fled his Florida residence on July 23, 2021, and relocated to Pennsylvania. However, he did not update his sex offender registration as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). Williams is obligated to maintain his status as a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.

Judge Hornak has scheduled sentencing for April 10, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. Williams could face a maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence will be determined based on the severity of the offense and Williams’s prior criminal history.

In the meantime, the court has ordered that Williams remain detained until his sentencing.

The case against Williams is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch, following an investigation led by the United States Marshal Service.
