HARRISBURG, PA — Adam Fouse, a 30-year-old former U.S. Postal Service employee from Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to a year of probation, which includes 30 days of home confinement, for stealing mail. United States District Court Judge Yvette Kane also ordered Fouse to pay $1,200 in fines and assessments.

Fouse pleaded guilty to theft of mail by a postal employee, according to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam. While working as a rural carrier associate, Fouse opened gift cards and other mail entrusted to him, stealing money to finance a sports gambling addiction.

As part of his sentence, Fouse has agreed to resign from the Postal Service and will not seek or accept a position of public trust for a period of 10 years.

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service. Assistant United States Attorney Christian T. Haugsby prosecuted the case.
