PITTSBURGH, PA — A former resident of Jeannette, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges related to violating federal narcotics and firearms laws, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced on Wednesday.
Duran Foster, 29, is the sole defendant named in the four-count indictment. The charges allege that on October 26, 2023, Foster possessed with intent to distribute a quantity of cocaine and cocaine base. Additionally, Foster is accused of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon.
According to the indictment, Foster’s criminal history includes multiple prior felony drug-trafficking convictions and a prior felony conviction for illegal possession of a firearm. Federal law prohibits individuals who have been convicted of a felony from possessing firearms or ammunition.
If found guilty, Foster could face a maximum total sentence of not less than 15 years and up to life in prison, a fine of up to $2 million, or both. As per the federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would consider the seriousness of the offenses and the defendant’s prior criminal history.
Assistant United States Attorney Katherine C. Jordan will be prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pennsylvania State Police.
As with all legal proceedings, it’s important to bear in mind that an indictment is merely an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
