JOHNSTOWN, PA — In a decisive ruling, Jeffrey Sheeder, 34, an Everett resident, has been sentenced to 45 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. The sentencing follows Sheeder’s conviction of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I and II controlled substances, as announced by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines imposed the sentence after reviewing evidence presented to the court. On or around March 25, 2021, Sheeder was found in possession of a quantity of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of psilocyn, a Schedule I controlled substance. Alongside this, he also had quantities of a mixture and substance containing detectable amounts of cocaine and amphetamine, both Schedule II controlled substances.

The classification of drugs into Schedule I and II is based on their potential for abuse and dependence. Schedule I drugs, like psilocyn, are considered the most dangerous class of drugs with a high potential for abuse and potentially severe psychological and physical dependence. Schedule II drugs, such as cocaine and amphetamine, while still highly addictive, have less potential for abuse than Schedule I drugs.

Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard Jr. was responsible for prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. United States Attorney Olshan praised the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Pennsylvania State Police for their investigation, which led to the successful prosecution of Sheeder.
