HARRISBURG, PA — Attorney General Michelle Henry announced that Damone Morton, 28, will serve 5 to 10 years in prison for distributing fentanyl and other controlled substances in Westmoreland County.
Morton was sentenced Tuesday in Westmoreland County Court to serve 5 to 10 years in prison, after pleading guilty to four felony charges: delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, dealing in the proceeds of an illegal activity, and receiving stolen property.
“This upper-level dealer was preying on those addicted to opioids by pedaling deadly substances to turn a profit,” said Attorney General Henry. “This case is a reminder that drug dealers will use firearms to protect their investments. Fortunately, thanks to strong collaboration among law enforcement, a dangerous man is off the streets.”
An investigation conducted by the Office of Attorney General, the Westmoreland County Drug Task Force and the Westmoreland County Detective’s Bureau found that Morton was selling fentanyl pills and other drugs in and around Westmoreland County. During a raid at Morton’s home, agents seized approximately 3 grams of fentanyl, 4 bricks of heroin, 452 Alprazolam pills, approximately $100,000 cash, and a stolen handgun.
This case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Tomm Mutschler.
