HARRISBURG, PA — The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) has unveiled the “It’s Fall-ier in Pennsylvania” campaign, a strategic initiative under the Visit PA Pennsylvania: The Great American Getaway program. This campaign is designed to capitalize on Pennsylvania’s reputation as a premier autumn destination, highlighting its breathtaking fall foliage, historical sites, and seasonal delights.
Anne Ryan, the DCED Deputy Secretary of Tourism, emphasized the economic importance of fall travel, which significantly contributes to the $76.7 billion generated by tourism in the state. “Fall is just better in Pennsylvania,” Ryan noted, underscoring the state’s appeal to millions within a short drive looking for the quintessential autumn experience.
A key feature of the campaign is a new television advertisement, shot at Shady Brook Farm in Bucks County, recently named the top U.S. destination for leaf peeping by Priceline. The commercial showcases the vibrant fall landscapes across Pennsylvania and forms the core of a broader media strategy, including digital and social media outreach.
Furthermore, the campaign introduces the “It’s Fall-ier Swagon,” an experiential tour that will travel to major East Coast cities. This mobile attraction, featuring a hay wagon and rustic trailer, offers an immersive taste of Pennsylvania’s fall. Visitors can enjoy regional treats, monitor peak foliage updates, and participate in interactive experiences, including a photo booth with opportunities to win themed merchandise and Pennsylvania staycations.
In addition to celebrating the season’s beauty, Pennsylvania will lean into its haunted history. The Ghostly Getaway contest invites thrill-seekers to stay in a spookily transformed room at Philadelphia’s Guild House Hotel, promising a ghostly adventure in a historic setting.
Visit PA will further engage audiences with social media initiatives like the Ultimate Fall Bucket List, exclusive Pennsylvania pumpkin stencils, and surprise fall getaways in partnership with Pack Up + Go, a travel agency known for its mystery vacations.
This comprehensive campaign not only aims to attract tourists during the fall season but also reinforces Pennsylvania’s status as a vibrant and dynamic travel destination.
