HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday has announced a lawsuit against Monroe County contractor Jeffrey Romansky and his business, Jeff Romansky Construction, for allegedly misleading consumers, performing substandard work, and failing to disclose prior convictions during the contractor registration process.

The lawsuit, filed in Monroe County Court of Common Pleas, accuses Romansky of violating the Pennsylvania Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act (HICPA) by not reporting theft convictions required for registration. Despite multiple warnings from the Bureau of Consumer Protection, Romansky did not disclose his 2015 guilty plea to three counts of theft, leading to his registration suspension in March 2022.

“This contractor failed to include his history of theft convictions when he registered with our office — information that consumers should have known before signing contracts,” said Attorney General Sunday. “He deliberately withheld that information, then performed subpar work for consumers who paid significant sums.”

The Bureau of Consumer Protection has received multiple complaints about Romansky, including one from a consumer who paid $18,500 for incomplete deck work. The lawsuit further alleges Romansky charged illegal deposits exceeding one-third of total costs and used contracts that lacked required legal details such as the contractor registration number, cancellation notices, and insurance information.

The suit seeks refunds for affected consumers, penalties, and compliance with HICPA moving forward. Consumers who may have experienced issues with Romansky’s business are encouraged to report concerns to the Attorney General’s office.

Deputy Attorney General Seth Miller is handling the case.
