HARRISBURG, PA — Residents of Lycoming, Potter, Tioga, and Union counties in Pennsylvania have a limited window left to apply for federal disaster assistance following the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Debby in early August. With the deadline set for November 12, it is imperative for those affected to act swiftly to secure necessary aid.
Tropical Storm Debby, which ravaged parts of Pennsylvania on August 9 and 10, left significant damage in its wake, impacting homes and personal property. In response, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been offering assistance, yet many residents have yet to apply.
Eligible residents can choose from four application methods tailored for convenience. They may contact the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 to speak directly with a representative. Alternatively, individuals can apply online by visiting DisasterAssistance.gov, which offers a streamlined digital application process. For those who prefer using mobile technology, the FEMA App provides another user-friendly option to initiate claims.
Additionally, the remaining Disaster Recovery Center in Tioga County offers in-person support for applicants. Located at Valley Christian Church, 146 Maple Street, Westfield, PA 16950, the center operates from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. However, residents should note the center’s closure on Election Day, November 5, and its adjusted hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Veteran’s Day, November 11.
Given the impending deadline, residents are urged to promptly utilize these resources to ensure they receive the aid they are entitled to. This assistance aims to alleviate some of the burdens faced by those who have suffered losses or damage to their properties and to facilitate their recovery process.
In light of the approaching deadline, it is crucial for affected Pennsylvanians to expedite their application process to avoid missing out on the available federal assistance. As the cutoff date looms, FEMA stated that it remains committed to supporting the recovery efforts and ensuring that all eligible individuals have access to the necessary resources to rebuild and recover from this natural disaster.
