LANCASTER, PA — Lancaster County Convention Center was abuzz with excitement on May 14, 2024, as water providers from across Pennsylvania gathered for the annual Pennsylvania American Water Works Association (PA AWWA) Conference. One of the event’s highlights was Chester Water Authority’s (CWA) remarkable feat of clinching both categories in the highly anticipated Best Tasting Water contest. This is the second year in a row that CWA has taken home the top two coveted prizes.
A testament to their commitment to quality and excellence, CWA emerged victorious in both the People’s Choice category, determined by blind voting from conference attendees, and the prestigious Celebrity Judges Panel, where three independent taste testers cast their expert opinions.
“We are thrilled and honored to have been recognized in both categories of the best tasting water in Pennsylvania,” noted Noel Brandon, CWA Board Chairperson. “This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our team and our unwavering commitment to delivering superior quality water at an affordable price to the communities we serve.”
But the recognition didn’t stop there. CWA also received well-deserved honors for their longstanding dedication to water quality as they marked their 20th year of participation in the Partnership for Safe Water program. The Partnership for Safe Water, a global optimization and recognition program for water utilities, runs parallel to the renowned Partnership for Clean Water. While the former has been enhancing the performance of drinking water utilities for over 25 years, its counterpart focuses on wastewater systems, ensuring global standards of excellence in water management. CWA will be recognized under the Partnership program for a 20 year Longevity Award as a Directors (Phase III) utility.
This recognition, which comes from the PA State AWWA organization, underscores CWA’s enduring commitment to upholding the highest standards of water quality and environmental stewardship. The National AWWA will also honor CWA at ACE24, further cementing their status as a leading authority in the water industry.
For CWA, these honors are not just milestones of their on-going success, but reminders of the vital role they play in safeguarding public health and ensuring access to clean, safe, affordable drinking water for generations to come. As they continue to innovate and excel in their field, CWA sets a shining example for water utilities across Pennsylvania and nationwide, demonstrating that dedication, excellence, and a passion for quality must be paramount in the water industry.
