Carlisle Man Faces Federal Charges for Child Pornography

Department of Justice

HARRISBURG, PA — Edward Clouser, a resident of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to the distribution and possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam announced on April 10, 2024.

The indictment specifically accuses Clouser of distributing child pornography on November 28, 2022, and possessing illicit images, including those involving a prepubescent minor and another minor under the age of 12, on February 7, 2023, in Cumberland County. These serious allegations underscore the ongoing efforts by federal authorities to combat the exploitation of children through the distribution and possession of child pornography.

The investigation leading to the charges against Clouser was conducted by the FBI, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian Haugsby spearheading the prosecution. The case is part of a broader initiative to identify and prosecute individuals involved in the sexual exploitation of minors.

If found guilty of these charges, Clouser faces a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison for each offense, along with the possibility of a lifetime of supervised release following imprisonment, and fines.

It is important to remember that an indictment is merely an accusation, and all individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The charges against Clouser will be subject to a thorough judicial process, where evidence will be presented, and a verdict reached based on the merits of the case.
